Demoted Kenya premier league teams Nairobi City Stars and Naivas FC recorded victories in round two of National super League (NSL) the second tier football league.
After losing their opening match to Michael Olunga Academy (MOFA) last weekend, City Stars defeated Luanda Villa by a solitary goal scored by Joshua Amunike in a match played at the vapor Grounds, in Kajiado County while MOFA beat former KPL side Vihiga United 1-0 with the goal courtesy of Laban Otieno at the Mambo Leo stadium in Kisumu.
The Salim Babu coached side was relegated from Kenya Premier league last season, and it was another blow for Villa who had played to a draw against newcomers Equity Bank, who beat fellow newcomers Kabati 3-1.
In Mombasa, the hosts Mombasa United defeated Fortune Sacco 2-1 at the Mbaraki Stadium to keep their hopes alive into the Kenya Premier League next season.
Mombasa, coached by veteran Gilbert Sselebwa took the lead through Emmanuel Gabriel before Sacco under coach Shem Ondieki leveled through Felix ochieng but Nehemiah Onchiri restored the lead and the winning goal for the hosts.
