Sammy Mulama swing into the inaugural Altitude Challenge victory in Nyahururu

Former Golf Park Open champion Sammy Mulama recorded his maiden victory at the inaugural Altitude Challenge, the new Kenya Amateur Golf Series (KAGC) series at the Nyahururu Country Club.

In the three day championships, Mulama was crowned the first-ever champion, marking a milestone moment for Kenya’s amateur golf landscape.

After three days of intense competition at 7,800 ft above sea level,  Mulama of Golf Park Golf Club emerged victorious with a total score of 232, mastering the demanding 7,800-yard layout known for its firm greens, swirling winds, and high-altitude endurance test. Mulama’s consistency saw him finish +16, edging out a highly competitive leaderboard featuring Kenya’s top amateurs.

Kenya team captain and series leader John Lejirma (Royal Nairobi Golf Club) secured second place with +18, while Elvis Muigai (Windsor) and Joseph Olwali (Karen) tied for third at +19.

The tournament’s challenging setup, combined with Nyahururu’s signature high-altitude conditions, delivered memorable performances, dramatic leaderboard shifts, and a strong showcase of Kenya’s rising golf talent

With the success of this debut event, the  Altitude Challenge is set to grow into one of the most anticipated stops in the KAGC Series
