Sebastien Sawe led Daniel Simiu Ebenyo and Samuel Nyamai Mailu to sweep the podium in half marathon at the World Road Running championships in Riga, Latvia.
The Berlin marathon champion sawe edged out the reigning world 10,000m silver medalist Ebenyo and Mailu, to bring back the memories of 1995 and 1997. in 1995, Moses Tanui, Paul yeo and Charles Tangus swept the podium in France. Tanui won the title in 61:45 followed by Yego (61:46) and Tangus’ 61:50.
in 1997 at the it was another clean sweep for Kenyan team when Shem Kororia outpaced Tanui to win gold at 59:56, Tanui winning silver at 59:58 with Kenneth Cheruiyot completing the sweep at 60:00.
Wearing national colours for the first time, Sawe won the title in 59:10, Ebenyo silver at 59:14 and Mailu completed the podium sweep at 59:19.
