Sepetuka sevens: Eldoret hosts first national rugby circuit

With three national rugby series came to an end in Nakuru, focus shifts to Eldoret’s debut of Sepetuka sevens this coming weekend.

Three different teams have claimed the titles starting with Homeboyz in Driftwood sevens at Mombasa Sports Club, Impala Saracens winning Kabeberi sevens in Nairobi and Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) taking Prinsloo title in Nakuru.

KCB beat Nakuru 29-5 in the Prinsloo Sevens cup final at the Nakuru Athletic Club tolift the title. Nelson Oyoo touched down at half time for a 5-0 leadbefore Shaban Ahmed touched the ground and converted Ojee’s try for a 12-5 score before extending to 19-5 lead.

Mike Wanjala and national seven’s captain Andrew Amonde scored at the death, KCB winning the Prinsloo Sevens for a fourth time, adding to victories in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

KCB beat Strathmore Leos 14-10 in the semi final match while Nakuru shone against title defending champions Homeboyz 19-12

In quarter finals, Champions Homeboyz, hosts Nakuru, KCB and Strathmore reached the last four after emerging victorious in their cup quarter finals on Sunday morning.

Homeboyz edged Mwamba 17-12; hosts Nakuru were 29-12 winners over Kabras Sugar while KCB shut out Blak Blad 22-0 with the Strathmore Leos eding Quins 22-17.
