Shah and Manji Clinch 2026 Nairobi District Foursomes Title at Muthaiga

Sigona Golf Club’s pair of Hetansh Shah and Junaid Manji were crowned champions of the 2026 Nairobi District Foursomes after edging Limuru’s Tuimur Malik and Dennis Maara 1-up in a thrilling final played at the par-71 Muthaiga Golf Club today.

The four-day championship, which teed off on Thursday, marked the official start of the 2026 Kenya Golf Union (KGU) calendar, ushering in a busy season that will culminate with the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) series later in December.

Shah and Manji made a solid start in the 18-hole final, opening with a par on the par-4 first hole as their Limuru opponents dropped a shot. The Limuru duo responded with a par on the par-3 second hole as Sigona bogeyed to level matters.

The Sigona pair regained momentum with a birdie on the par-4 third hole, followed by a par on the fourth before dropping a shot on the fifth. They then recorded a par and a bogey on the sixth and seventh holes respectively, before closing the front nine strongly with a par and a birdie on the eighth and ninth holes.

Malik and Maara kept pace with steady play, carding pars across the front nine except for a bogey on the sixth and a birdie on the seventh.

On the back nine, Shah and Manji maintained their composure, opening with a birdie on the 10th hole. They followed this with pars on the 11th, 13th, 14th and 17th, while dropping shots on the 12th, 15th and 16th. A decisive birdie on the 18th sealed the 1-up victory.

The Limuru pair posted pars on the 10th, 14th, 15th, 17th and 18th holes, but bogeys on the 11th, 12th and 16th proved costly, with their only birdie on the par-3 13th.

In the semifinals, Malik and Maara defeated Royal Nairobi’s John Lejirma and Wesley Kibet 3&2, while Shah and Manji dominated fellow Limuru golfers Paul Muchangi and J. Ikanyi 4&5.

Earlier in the quarterfinals, Malik and Maara overcame Kiambu’s Mike Ngene and Steve Kiaro 3&2, as Lejirma and Kibet eliminated defending champions Chandaria Neer and Khushil Natwani of Muthaiga by the same margin. Muchangi and Ikanyi proved too strong for Vetlab’s Krish Shah and Wasim Ali, while Manji and Shah stunned Golf Park’s Josphat Rono and Felix Dusabe.
