De La Sharks will be battling with Mayenje FC at the finals of the promotional play-offs in the Football Kenya Federation National Division Two Western Zone A and B at the Mumboha stadium in Vihiga County.
The Eldoret based Sharks, the winners of Zone B will be facing off Mayenje from Vihiga County in search of the single slot promotion.
In today’s semifinals, Sharks beat Busia Olympics in penalty shootouts. Busia, who were the second placed at the Zone A, will now play Elim from Trans Nzoia in the third position after losing 3-1 to Mayenje in the first semifinal.
Sharks manager Oliver Kiptoo is optimistic that as a team, they are well prepared for the play-offs with an eye to play at the Division One with only one team to be promoted.
“As a team, we are well prepared for the play-offs and ready to be promoted to the next level. The boys have had little time to prepare but we are set for the game,” said Kiptoo.
The zone B side had 21 teams at the start of the league but Kakuma from Turkana County dropped along the way due to logistical challenges caused by COVID-19 restrictions. Karima and Trans Milani also dropped the way, with the league completing with 18 teams.
