Shujaa picks a point at #London7s

Shujaa picked one point at the 2019 HSBC World rugby sevens series held this weekend in London’s Twickenham stadium.

Kenya lost to Japan 26-17 in the 13th place semis after a 29-21 loss to Scotland in the Challenge Trophy.

The defeat means Kenya left London with a point as they are left in danger zone to relegation.

Coming to London, Kenya had 26 points, Wales 25 points and Japan (22 points), placed in positions 13 to 15 in that order, had a mission of scooping massive points to boost their survival hopes.

All were to end up in the Challenge Trophy and as Kenya took home one point, Japan has a chance to earn three as Wales goes for the maximum eight points should they go all the way to win the Challenge Trophy. Wales beat Japan 17-0 in the Challenge Trophy quarterfinals.

Japan, still sitting in relegation spot 15 can gun for the three points on offer when they face off with England in the 13th place final to move ever so close to Kenya who now drop from 13th to 14th place. The loser of the game will settle for two points.

Kenya needed to match any results by Wales and Japan to steer off the red zone. But having performed to the contrary, the team has one final stab at Paris, the final leg of the series next weekend, to keep their World Sevens Series core status intact
