Top media houses will be battling for kshs 50,000 at the 2023 edition of the La Liga/Sports Journalist Association of Kenya inter-media tournament set for this Saturday July 1 at the Galleria Arena, Nairobi.
In a 16 team one day tournament will be used to mark the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) sports day where the overall winners will take home Sh50,000, runners-up will pocket Sh30,000 while the third-placed team will bag Sh20,000.
Yesterday, the La Liga delegate Alvaro Abreu said he was glad to associate with the sports journalist in the country as they seek to popularise the brand in the country.
SJAK chairman James Waindi said it has been long since the association held a fun day for the scribes and thanked the sponsors for making it happen.
“20 teams had shown interest in the event but we trimmed it to 16 guided by the directive we had earlier shared. The teams are drawn from across the country. But at the end of the day, it’s not all about the competition but the sportsmanship. I wish all the teams success,” said Waindi.
