St Joseph, Butere girls win in football as Cheptil, Kwanthanze retain school volleyball titles

St Joseph’s Boys ‘JOBO’ Kitale and Butere Girls ‘Red Commandos’ were crowned football champions at the concluded Kenya Secondary Sports Association held at the Mumias Sports Complex in Kakamega County.

In the boys, Trans Nzoia based JOBO defeated hosts Musingu High school by a solitary goal scored by Shadrack Kiboi in the 62nd minute after connecting Rixon Simiyu cross to earn JOBO their maiden national title.

For the second time, Musingu has failed to win the national title after falling last year to Highway High school.

At the semfinals, Musingu beat Highway 3-2 while the champions were 1-0 winners against Agai.

Butere girls won their national title for the third time in a row following their victory against Madira Girls during the finals.

Metrine Kitavi scored the solitary goal for the champions against Madira to join big schools that have won a three-pit like Itigo and Wiyeta girls.

In volleyball, Cheptil Boys and Kwanthanze Girls successfully defended their volleyball titles played at the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST)

Cheptil defeated Malava Boys in straight sets of 25-15, 25-14, 25-22 while Kwanthanze beat Kesogon Girls 3-0 (25-17, 25-6, 25-16)

Sulumeti Girls beat Soweto 3-2 (21-25, 25-17, 19-25, 25-15, 15-13) while Mwaluphamba gunned down Gogo 3-1 (20-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-22) for bronze medals.

Kakamega’s Sigalame Boys and Buruburu girls were crowned 3×3 basketball champions after beating Pionner School 21-17 and Tigoi 15-02 respectively.
