Starlets Moraa to join Yanga Ladies

Kenya Women Premier (KWPL) side Eldoret Falcons FC striker Janet Bundi Moraa is set to join Tanzanian side Young Africans (Yanga) in the coming season.

Falcons head coach Johnstone Mukhwana and chairman Joshua Ariko confirmed that the Harambee Starlets striker will be leaving the Eldoret based club.

At Yanga, she will be teaming up with former Gaspo Women player Wincate Kaari who also joined this season.

Moraa will be joining other former club members like Annette Kundu and Ruth Ingotsi who signed for Lakatamia FC in Cyprus early this year in playing professional football.

Ariko said they will be ensuring that Moraa’s transfer is smooth saying that they will be conducting trials to select other players to join the club.

“As the transfer window is open, we as Eldoret Falcons are signing new players and we are giving our county Uasin Gishu first priority. Please send us girls whom you think have talents to play football. Let the girls also play,” said Ariko.

He added that as a youthful club, there work is to give girls opportunities to play football and give them to top clubs across the world to ensure that they earn from their talents.

“For now, we are producing players but our next agenda is to sign top players when we will have enough cash. Currently we will continue producing the best,” said Ariko adding that they need to replace Moraa before the matches begin after they were stopped due to coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking during the inaugural Mama Diouf Women football tournament over the weekend at Bishop Delany Memorial secondary school in Eldoret, Falcons head coach Johnson Mukhwana revealed that Moraa will be out of the team and they need a sharper player like her.

Mukhwana added that his team will continue training harder as they wait for the start of the Kenya Premier League season after Covid-19.

“We are using this time to train. My side is also on a recruitment spree of new players because some of them like Moraa from Harambee Starlets is set to join Yanga Women FC in Tanzania. We have at least three players who are leaving us for greener pastures outside the country and it is time to get their replacements,” said Mukhwana.
