In honour of the late Raila Odinda as a sportsman, President William Ruto has promised Kenyans that the under construction Talanta stadium will be named Raila Odinga International stadium.
Speaking during the 62nd Jamhuri Day Celebrations at the Nyayo National stadium, Ruto said that once the facility is complete the name shall change.
“I do agree that we should rename it Raila Amollo Odinga International Stadium, we will do exactly that,” President said.
Talanta Stadium is expected to be the largest sports facility in the country with a capacity of 60,000 seats.
It was originally scheduled for completion at the end of this year but the same has now been pushed to the new year.
It has been designated as one of two venues in the country set to co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations — alongside Uganda and Tanzania
