Three Kenyans will fly the Kenyan flag at the Africa Junior Chess Championships under the Africa Chess Confederation (ACC) at Country Lake Resort Garuga, Entebbe Uganda.
Chess Kenya will be represented by John Milton Kihara and James Kaburu Nyaga in boys’ category while Cynthia Awino Obondo will represent girls at the championships that kicks off on Saturday 29th December to 6th January.
Kihara, the student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and technology (JKUAT) is 14th on the table ahead of the under 20 championships with 1679 rating while Nyaga, a student at Thika Technical is 10th with 1716 rating.
The only girl Awino is in 11th position with zero rating from Technical University of Kenya (TUK).
The team is accompanied by Andrew Owili, the vice chairman in-charge of administration.
