Top amateurs to face off at inaugural Altitude Challenge in Nyahururu

The Nyahururu Country Club, famously known as “The Home of High Altitude Golf”, will host its inaugural Altitude Challenge, the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) series this weekend.

The three day event tees off tomorrow, November 21st to 23rd to mark the historic moment as the club crowns its first-ever champion in a highly competitive event.

With 48 top golfers going head to head for the champions in the battle of title come Sunday afternoon.

The tournament boasts a prize fund of KSh 500,000, attracting some of Kenya’s top amateur golfers, including Elvis Muigai, John Lejirma, and Michael Karanga.

Notably, the winner of the Eldoret tournament, Isaac Makokha, will not be competing in this event, giving new contenders an opportunity to make their mark.

The championship will be played over 7800 yards at 7800 ft above sea level, presenting a unique high-altitude challenge that tests both skill and endurance.

The handicap limit is set at 15.0, ensuring a competitive and balanced field. The Nyahururu Country Club is committed to providing a premier golfing experience in one of Kenya’s most scenic and challenging environments.

This first edition of the Altitude Challenge is expected to become a signature event on the Kenyan amateur golf calendar.
