Uganda ended Kenya’s Rising Stars’ dream to compete at the 2021 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Stanley Okumbi led side lost to Uganda at the Cecafa Under-20 Championship semifinals played today at the Black Rhino Academy in Karatu, Arusha.
Stars lost 3-1 to book the finals against defending champions Tanzania who beat South Sudan 1-0.
Kenneth Semakula put Uganda ahead in the 22nd minute, before Ivan Bogere hit a brace in the 25th and 63rd minutes. Rising Stars’ consolation goal was netted by Enock Wanyama 80th minute.
The defeat means Rising Stars will play South Sudan in the third-place playoff on Wednesday, before Uganda and Tanzania lock horns in the finals of this year’s edition
Uganda and Tanzania will play in the continental finals set for Mauritania.
