Women’s Cup champions Ulinzi Starlets defeated Kenya Women Premier League (KWPL) champions Thika Queens to lift the first edition of Women Super Cup in a match played today at the Utalii Grounds.
The soldiers won the KWPL league curtain raiser in post-match penalties following a one-all draw in normal time with 9-8 score line.
Ulinzi keeper Maureen Shimuli saved two penalties to hand the soldiers the title when she saved her opposing keeper Mishi Mbaru’s spot-kick.
Ulinzi won against former champions Vihiga 2-1 during the inaugural Women’s Cup in Nakuru to book for such slot.
Ulinzi scored first when Joan Nahututu netted in her own goal for a 1-0 lead but imperious Ulinzi leveled through Lucy Nato.
