Nicholas Kipkorir Kimeli won a back to back cross country as former Africa Youth 1,500m silver medalist Eva Cherono won the woman’s category at the University of Eldoret Cross country meeting ran today at the university’s ground.
Kimeli won the Isaiah Kiplagat Memorial Ndalat Gaa Cross country last Saturday in Nandi County and today he won 10k senior men ahead of jackpot prize.
With another target at Africa Cross country, Kimeli won the race ahead of Noah Kipkemboi followed by Alfred barkach.
Kipkorir who will turn 20 next year said he wants to feature into next year’s Africa Cross country in Algiers and cut a ticket to the Commonwealth Games.
“I want to get aslot in Africa Cross country and Commonwealth Games and win a gold ,” said Kimeli.
Kipkorir cut the tape at 28.46.8 followed by Kipkemboi, who last won Chemususu cross country title in 28.47.8 and Barkach clocked 28.57.1.
After finishing second in Ndalat last year, Eva Cherono won the 8km senior women in style.
The 21 year old runner won the race in 25.54.6.
“ I see a lot of improvement today and My target is to make team to Africa Cross country and above all the Commonwealth Games in Australia,” said Cherono, who was position three at Kericho.
With a tight race, Cherono beat Daisy kimeli who came second timing 26.06.4 before Kenyan born turn Turkish Yasemin Can followed third in 26.28.8 to close the top three
Upcoming athlete Dorcas chepchirchir won 6km junior women race in style. The athlete who trains in Iten under RunFast Camp clocked 20.09.2
Salome Kipruto finished second in the race timing 20.38.1 followed by Carolyne Jelimo in third position clocking 20.47.3 to close the podium
Reigning Africa junior cross country champion Rhonex Kipruto won the 8km junior men race in 22.50.7 followed by Josephat kipchirchir in 22.57.7 and Vincent kiprotich came third in 23.01.5
