He graduated from a caddie to a golfer and his skills were well exhibited when he won the 2017 Vivo Energy golf tournament played today at par 72 Nandi Bears golf club.

Playing with his mentor Sosten saina and experienced golfer Johnston Korir, Sosten Biwott sunk four birdies to emerge victorious with 65 net after he played one over Gross (73) in the event that attracted 47 golfers.
He failed to sink a birdie in the first hole par five when he faced the challenge of fast greens but managed a par. He sunk back to back pars in the opening four holes, a bogey in the 5th hole but recovered with triple birdies in holes six, eight and nine with a bogey on hole six for a total of 32 points.
“The greens were very fast hence challenging. I missed a birdie on first hole due to such but I had to relax and play calm golf,” said Biwott.
At the back nine, handicap eight golfer had four pars in succession, bogey, double bogey and a birdie before wining with a par.
“I played in a flight of great men who urged me to play on well. Before becoming a member of the club, I used to be a caddie and that exposed me to golf. I gained experience especially Saina who taught me golf,” added Biwott.
He beat Elly Barno by three shots (68) to finish second followed by Simion Chepkwony (69), Wesley Bett (69) and Laban Sang (69).
