Geoffrey Kipsang Kamworor has become the icon of world half marathon following his third straight win at the world half marathon held today in Valencia, Spain.
As world half marathon record holder Joyciline Jepkosgei took silver in women’s category.
The double world cross country champion Kamworor entered history books for running the world event for three times in a row with season best of 60:02.
He first won the title in 2014 before defending in 2016 in Cardiff and the Valencia in Spain.
He was followed by Kenyan export to Bahrain Abraham Cheroben (60:22) also running season best and Eritrean Aron Kifle with 60:31 with personal best in 21km distance.
With 2016 bronze medallist Mary Wacera pulling out of The championships, the task was left to Joyciline Jepkosgei who represented the country for The first time.
Jepkosgei won silver in 66:54 behind Ethiopian Netsanet Gudeta Kebede who clocked 66:11 and Kenyan Pauline Kaveke taking bronze in 66:56.
