100+ golfers set for Captain’s Sembi prize in Kakamega

Over 100 golfers are set to battle for the Kakamega Captain’s Pape Sembi that tees off tomorrow at the Kakamega Golf club.

Sembi said that over 12 clubs will be sending their golfers in the one-day event that tee off at 7.00am saying that he is not just a golf captain but the sports captain at the club.

He said that he is not just the golf captain but the sports captain in the club where it has been a long week full of events counting to the Saturday golf tournament.

“We started the journey on Monday with a caddies’ tournament, followed by a club night on Wednesday then Squash on Thursday, we shall have darts, table tennis and pool table on Friday and the main event on Saturday to culminate the whole week of sports in this club,” said Sembi.

He said that on Thursday afternoon, he had received 105 entries from different clubs counting to 12 and expecting more as hour clock ticks on.

“So far I have entered 105 players from twelve different clubs led by the hosts kakamega, Nyanza, Nandi Bears, Kitale, Kericho, Eldoret, Thika, Ruiru, Royal, Limuru, Vet Lab, Nakuru and still expecting more entries and also friends of the captain,” he added.

He added that the club course has improved tremendously in the last three years as the captain, making it the best in the whole region.

“We have the best club in this region. All golfers who play on this course have witnessed the changes made and they will enjoy the day. From a good course to the best greens. We have made sure that the course is good for the last three years,” he reiterated.

After serving four three years as the captain, the reign of Pape Sembi will come to end but not as he will be seeking re-election come December 16th.

“I have served this club diligently and that is why I have had three years in a row and I know I have done well that is why I am seeking the re-election in two weeks’ time,” he said.
