3 out of 3 win for Faith Chemutai in Western Kenya Ladies Open in Nandi

Long hitting Faith Chemutai is the talk in women golf after winning her third title at the ongoing Western Kenya Ladies Open played on today at the Nandi Bears golf Club.

After winning second leg in Nyanza, followed by her the third leg in kakamega on Wednesday, Chemutai has become unstoppable claiming her third straight title at her backyard today when she fired six over par 78 as she eyes the prize at the Eldoret Golfer of the Year Award (GOTY) on Sunday.

“It was a celebration with a double and back to back victory. After Nyanza’s and kakamega wins and today’s win has propelled my status in the series,” said Chemutai.

She started well with a par in the opening hole par 5, bogeyed in second, dropped two shots in third, recovered with back to back pars, dropping one in six parred in 7th and 9th but a birdie in 8th uplifted her score to three over par 39 in the first half.

On resumption, she started with a par in the 10th, double bogeyed in the 11th back to back birdies in 12th and 13th.

Vet lab’s golfer Mercy Nyanjoma was Division A gross winner after firing six over par 78 with former Eldoret captain Esther Chumo coming second with nine over par 81 and and Compatriot Mildred nayecho was third on 87 gross. Still in Division A, home player Rael Kurgat was the nett winner with 73 followed by Rachael Ndei with 74 and Mercy Karonei on 76 nett.

Division B Gross winner was Eileen Jepchumba with 95 gross followed by Rose wanjiku and former Eldoret Golfer Catherine Gatua third after scoring 97 gross apiece. Net winners were Sheila Balant (75), Elizabeth Akinyi (76) and Beatrice Bisonga (77).

Divison C winners were Winnie Cheruiyot was the champion followed by Joyce Saina.
