Kenyan player Clarke Oduor missed a penalty when Grimsby Town eliminated Manchester United in yesterday’s English Football League, the CarabalCup match.
Following a 2-all draw in regulation time, the hosts managed to win 12-11 on post match penalities in a night full of drama when Manchester came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at the final whistle before heading into the shootouts.
Charles Vernam scored first for Grimsby in the 22nd minute before Tyrell Warren doubled eight minutes later into a 2-0 break.
On resumption, United’s Bryan Mbeumo halved the score in the 75th minute and defener Hurry Maguire leveled the score in the 89th minute to force the match into penalties.
In the shootouts, Grimsby lost the third shot through Oduor but United missed the winning 5th shot where Matheus Cunha penalty was saved forcing them into sudden death.
As Grimsby shot all, Bryan Mbeumo missed the shot by hitting the crossbar to send Grimsby Town into the third round of the Carabao Cup.
