Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has banned olympian runners Bernard Kibet Koech for four years on Athletics Biological Passport (ABP), the anti-doping rule violation through the use of a prohibited substance or method, based on abnormalities.
The 26 year old Kenyan’ decision disqualifies all of Koech’s results from June 26, 2024, barring him from competition until June 2029.
Koech was part of team kenya at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France after finishing 4th in the men’s 10,000m final.
“The abnormalities observed in the athlete’s biological profile are highly likely to be the result of the use of a prohibited substance or method,” the Tribunal stated. “Neither altitude exposure nor iron supplementation can account for the magnitude, timing, and sequence of the abnormalities observed. Blood doping remains the most plausible explanation.”
