Ebola outbreak postpones Africa Rugby 7s tournament in Mauritius

Ebola outbreak in many of the Africa nations has forced the organizers of the Rugby Africa 7s tournament to be postponed .

The event that was set to be played from June 20th to 21st at the Sport Complex in Cascavelle, Mauritius, will no longer proceed as planned.

With 12 teams set to battle for the title in the Africa premier 7s tournament Rugby Africa recommended postponement as they monitor the Ebola outbreak affecting parts of the African region.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has classified the Ebola outbreak impacting parts of the region as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).

Rugby Africa emphasized that the postponement is strictly precautionary.

Rugby Africa and the Mauritius Rugby Union are now working closely with the Government of Mauritius, World Rugby and relevant authorities to identify suitable alternative dates for the competition. Further details regarding the rescheduled event are expected to be communicated once arrangements have been finalised.

Rugby Africa reiterated its commitment to delivering world-class competitions while maintaining the highest standards of player welfare, health and safety across the continent
