Two time Lagos marathon champion Abraham Kiptum won Valencia half marathon with a new world record of 58:19.
The reigning Daegu marathon champion with a course record lowered Zersenay Tadese’s time of 58:23 to become the new world record holder, shaving off four seconds.
Kiptum ended the eight year wait for a kenyan runner to break the world record. Tadese broke the record during the 2010 Lisbon Half marathon in Poland.
last year, Kenyan Joyciline jepkosgei broke Peres Jepchirchir’s world record on the same course to 64:51
