Brenda Achieng scored five goals when Junior Starlets, the national under 17 women team settled for a bronze at the concluded CECAFA under 17 women championships in Tanzania.
The Midred Cheche coached team edged out South Sudan 7-0 to claim the bronze medal in a match played at the KMC Stadium.
Cheche’s side lost 3-0 to Uganda in the semifinal after finishing second in pool A to book South Sudan while hosts Tanzania had beaten South Sudan 4-0 to book Uganda at the final.
Achieng was on target in the 6th minute then Elizabeth Opiyo doubled Starlets score to 2-0 into break.
Achieng made it 3-0 in the 60th minute after resumption, then a hat trick in the 63rd minute for 4-0 lead.
She made it 5-0 with her 4th goal in the 74th minute then Faith Boke was on target for the Starlets to make it 6-0 as Achieng 7-0 with her 5th goal.
