Age Cheating thrives despite multiple warnings

Athletics Kenya, on several occasions warned athletes against age cheating in competitions for long but that sounds sweet music in the ears of many athletes in Kenya.

The Star Newspaper on Thursday reported that some athletes have changed their names to meet Kenya team slot in 6km junior women and one may lose her flight for this year’s world cross country championships in Aarhus, Denmark for alleged age cheating.

According to the reliable sources by Dailysport.co.ke as well as The Star, one athlete initially competed in 2013 as junior athlete but she competed again in last meeting in juniors.

Dailysport.co.ke was contacted by various athletes especially in junior category who complained that some athletes were not their age but changed the names to dodge the system..

On Friday, A.K president Jack Tuwei warned athletes against age cheating but that has become a song to dance.
