AIU hands Mutai four years ban

The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) today handed a four year ban to Kenyan runner Mikel  Kiprotich Mutai for doping.

The marathon runner was banned after his urine was tested positive for norandrosterone and was found guilty.

On the official twitter handle, @aiu_athletics wrote: “The AIU has banned Stanislau Tsivonchyk (BLR), Mikel Kiprotich Mutai (KEN) & Kiranjit Kaur (IND), all for violations of the @WorldAthletics Anti-Doping Rules.”

Mutai was serving a suspension that started on May 1 for metabolites of specifically 19-norandrosteroneand in his urine sample taken on December 19 last year during the Taipei Marathon.

Nandrolone (19-nortestosterone)is a Prohibited Substance under the Wada 2019 Prohibited List (S1.1b: EndogenousAnabolic Androgenic  Steroids and their Metabolites when administered exogenously). It is a non-specified substance and is prohibited at all times.
