Ugandan Michael Alunga fired level par 72 to take an early lead at the Tea Field Trophy, the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) series on the par 72 Kericho Golf Club.
In a 36 hole tournament, Alunga will be chasing his maiden title at the series after leading Carl Wambasi with two shots at two over par 74 as J. Rono end the top three leader board with four over par 76.
With the defending champion Michael Karanga in Egypt for the All Africa Golf Championships, a new champion will be born.
In Egypt, Kenya won bronze after beating Tunisia and behind champ[ions Morocco and South Africa.
