AFC Leopards chairman Dan Shikanda has been forced to apologize to following his remarks against 2009 Kenya Preier League (KPL) chapions Sofapaka.
Speaking during the ‘Radull Live’ the online sports show hosted by Carol Radull as well as on Radio Jambo in the morning said he has no idea that Sofapaka exists.
He said that in his football career, he only knows Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards, which are bigger than the federation.
“I know of Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) a bank and I have never known a team calling itself Sofapaka,” said Shikanda.
The word did not go down well with Sofapaka hence sending a warning to Shikanda.
Sofapaka’s letter read in part: “This is lack of respect and we demand an immediate apology from AFC Leopards chairman Dan Shikanda. He should know that Sofapaka is in the history books as one of the teams that won the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) on its debut season.”
But Shikanda said he did not do anything wrong but his sentiments were taken out of context.
He said he had reached out to Sofapaka president Elly Kalekwa and tendered his apologies and was willing to do it in writing.
