Amos Kipruto takes bronze as Ethiopians dominate Kolkata 25Km race


Reigning Amsterdam marathon silver Medalist Amos Kipruto finished third in today’s Tata Steel Kolkata 25K ran in India as former Chicago marathon champion Florence Kiplagat was the best Kenyan woman in 5th position.

Kipruto who finished second behind world marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge at Berlin marathon on 16th September, finished third behind winner Birhanu Legese and Dibaba Kuma all from Ethiopia.

Legese clocked 1:15:48, with two minutes slower than Kenenisa Bekele’s course record set in 2017 as  Bayelign Yegsaw was second in 1:15: 49 and Kipruto (1:15.52) completed the podium and Eric Kiptanui also recording a 1:15:52. 

Kuma won the race in 1:27.34 ahead of Ethiopian compatriot Ftaw Zeray timed 1:27: 38and Failuna Matanga was third again, like in 2017 in 1:27.45.
