The pair of Angella Okutoyi and Kael Shah won silver at the ongoing Federation of International University Sports (FISU) World University Games in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany.
Coming from Auburn University, Okutoyi and Danison University’s Shah lost the tennis mixed double title to Japan’s Natsuki Yoshimoto and Jay Dylan Friend at the finals in 6-3, 6-3 to give Kenya team three medals, one gold and two silver medals.
Before today’s final, Okutoyi and Shah edged out Portugal’s duo of Maria Garcia and Pedro Araujo 7-6 6-3 in the semifinal while Yashimoto and Jay beat Czech Republic’s Karolina Kubanova and Jan Jermar.
Currently Kenya has won one gold through Brian Musau after winning the men’s 10,000m on Wednesday.
Musau from Oklahoma State University student won the race in 28:42.39 as his season best ahead of Great Britain’s David Steven Mullarkey (28:43.44) in second and Spaniard Mario Prego Montero came third at 28:45.02 for bronze.
Sarah Wanjiru won the first medal, silver for Kenya in the 10,000m when she clocked 31:41.80.
The Daito Bunka University student finished behind Slovenian Klara Lukan (31:25.84) while Spaniard Alicia Berzosa Martin went for bronze in 32:00.73.
