Over 250 athletes were engaged in today’s gender based violence (GBV) in Machakos County.
Senior vice Chair Athletics Kenya, Paul Mutwii said that the full programme will help athletes to identify challenges that young athletes undergo.
“This programme indeed will help Athletics Kenya as a board learn challenges that Athletes undergo, hence giving solutions to the same.”
They have also come up with a plan that will help educate athletes on saving their little gained profit, more basically female gender, programme that will help them avoid money snatching by male gender
Mutwii who is also the Chair Athletics Kenya Southern Region says that After Nairobi, Machakos is the second, with 11 other programme rollouts yet to be performed all over in Kenya.
Mutwii revealed that as a board they have come up with their own self equipped doctors, who will specifically attend to athletes whenever they fell sick, to avoid confusion of athletes been given performance enhancing substance.
The increment of Athletes has magnificent the problems that the athletes are facing, noting that rogue individuals are on a mission to kill the careers of young athletes by giving them burnt substances
Elizabeth Keitanyi-Executive member in-charge of women affairs at Athletics Kenya pointed out that ‘Come we Stay’ marriages at tender age, saying that they are leading cause of Gender based Violence
Olymbian, Caleb Mwangangi, decried on pathetic sorry state of the training camps in the country saying they are very pathetic unable to provide conducive environment for athletes to train and at the same time, giving a room for male athletes take advantage of female athletes
He has however urged County government to work hard in hand with Athletes Kenya in improving training facilities, for athletes to have conducive environment, giving them morale to market and sell Kenya well
