Kenyans will keenly be following the world Athletics Gala Awards this Saturday, waiting to know if Kenyans will shine in a virtual meeting from Monaco.
World half marathon record holder Peres Jepchirchir and athletes federation Athletics Kenya will be following the event as it unfolds in French City.
AK will be competing against five other federations, drawn from different continents including; Athletics New Zealand, Nicaraguan Athletics Federation, Palestine Athletics Federation, Peruvian Athletics Federation and Polish Athletics Federation.
Jepchirchir, who will be making her debut in marathon on Sunday at the Valencia marathon is the only Kenyan to make the cut.
Jepchirichir will vie for the Female Athlete of the Year award alongside other four finalists led by world 5000m record holder Letesenbet Gidey of Ethiopia, world 10000m champion Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands, world triple jump champion Yulimar Rojas of Venezuela and Olympic 100m champion Elaine Thompson-Herah of Jamaica.
The two time world half marathon champion won the world title with a world record in women-only world record of 65:16 after lowerin her own time of 65:34.
