Athletics Kenya has set October first as the date to register all training camps in the country as doping cases increase in the country.
The federation through a statement said that they want to regulate, examine and certify all coaches working with Kenyan athletes within and outside the country.
“Henceforth, it will be mandatory for all coaches handling Kenyan athletes in any jurisdiction to have requisite certification from AK,” the statement said.
“Athletics Kenya will subsequently forward approved applications from such persons operating within Kenya to the Department of Immigration for the provision of requisite work permits.
“Any foreign coaches and support personnel without such clearance will not be allowed to operate within the country,” the statement read.
AK said they may randomly but also routinely require foreign coaches and athletes’ support personnel to offer history of their movement and contacts within and without the country in respect to handling Kenyan athletes.
“As a federation, we continue to take all possible measures to educate athletes, coaches, teachers and all personnel involved in the professional athletics ecosystem, and exhort them to act in compliance with the law.”
