Baptism of fire for volleyball new comers at school games

New comers were baptized by fire in this year’s Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSA) that kicked off in Eldoret’s Hill school ground.

As champions and former champions took control in the opening day of volleyball for both boys and girls.

In boys, debutants Shimoni Boys from Coast lost to other new comers Kapkonyeloi from rift valley region 3-0 (25-9, 25-17 and 25-15) in pool A before other visitors Langata from Nairobi outran Furaha 3-0 (25-18), 25-13, and 25-13.

Reigning national champion Malava expressed their need to retain the title following their merciless thrashing of new comer Mogonga ion lowly ranked sets.

The western champions won in 25-15, 25-20 and 26-24 as Gatunti lost 3-1 (17-25, 26-24, 19-25 and 13-25).

Former champions Bishop Sulumenti of Western thrashed Makakor 3-0, 25-1, 25-8, 25-4 while Soweto beat St John’s Kaloleni 3-0, 25-9, 25-10. 25-14.
