Daniel Simiu Ebenyo and Jacb Krop were overwhelmed at the World Indoor championships in Belgrade, Serbia at Stark Arena.
The two Kenyans failed to win a medal after finishing 4th and 5th respectively in a race where Ethiopians Selemon Barega (7:41.38) won the title and compatriot Lamecha Girma 7:41.63) was second in men’s 3,000m as Marc Scott (7:42.02) of Great Britain was third.
Simiu who clocked 7:42.97 was 4th and Krop settled fifth in 7:43.26.
But it was the day of surprises when Venezuela’s Yulimar Rojas broke the triple jump world record becoming the first athlete to win three world indoor triple jump titles.
She set the world record in after jumping 15.74m by improving her own world record of 15.67m that she achieved to win the Olympic title in Tokyo.
