Barsosio and Abdi claim Rotterdam marathon titles

Former world 10,000m champion Stella Barsosio and Olympic Games marathon bronze medalist Bashir Abdi won the Rotterdam marathon race held today in the Netherlands.

The Kenyan Barsosio, who overcame road accident two years ago won the 42km title in 2:22.08 ahead of home girl Nataliya Lehonkove (2:30.28) and former Ljubljana marathon champion Bornes Kitur completing the podium in 2:30.41.

Fresh from competing at the Olympics, Abdi won the men’s title in 2:03.35 ahead of Kenyan Marius Kipserem (2:04.04) who failed to hit a hat-trick in the race after winning two times consecutively and ethiopian Dawit Wolde completing the podium timing 2:04.27.
