Reigning world 3,000m steeplechase world record holder Beatrice Chepkoech led world under 20 3,000m steeplechase champion Celliphine Chespol to a 1-2 podium finish for Kenyans at the second leg of IAAF Diamond League in Shanghai, China.
Chepkoech ran the world lead of 9:04.53 ahead of Chespol’s 9:11.53 as Ugandan Peruth Chemutai in 9:17.79.
In 5,000m, Africa cross country junior champion Nicholas Kimeli was the best Kenyan finishing 6th in a race won by Ethiopian’s Kejelicha Yomif (13:04.16) ahead of compatriots Selemon Barega (13:04.71) and Hagos Gebrhiwe (13:04.8.83).
Kimeli led Stanly Waithaka and Richard Yator with Ugandan Joshua Cheptegei in 7th.
