Malkia Strikers head coach Paul Bitok has lauded Kenya KCB women volleyball following their second victoty of Africa Women Club championships that came to an end yesterday in Kelibia, Tunisia.
Bitok, who is the KCB’s technical director said thet they had to wait for 15 years to claim the title they last won in 2006 in Madagascar.
“I last won this title with KCB way back in 2006 and today, we repeat the history of 15 years,” said Bitok after beating hosts Al Ahly 3-1 at the finals in 25-18, 25-22, 11-25, 28-26.
The last time a Kenyan team reached the finals was in 2015 when Pipeline lost 3-1 to Al Ahly in Cairo. However, Kenya Prisons, who finished fifth this year, are the last Kenyan team to win the title in 2013.
Head Coach Japeth Munala was full of praise for the Lionesses who he said deserve the trophy if their performance in the recent past is anything to go by.
