Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad will be seeking a double universities rugby titles when they play at the final against hosts University of Nairobi’s Mean Machine in the inaugural Varsity Cup this weekend.
Blak Blad won the Kenya Universities Sports Association sevens overall title following their four out of six legs across the country to be crowned the champions at University of Nairobi in July.
On Saturday, they will face their main rivals Mean machine at the latter’s ground after edging out Catholic University of Eastern Africa’s side The Monks 44-07 to sail to the final while their opponents defeated hosts Egerton University (Wasps) through penalty shootout 3-1 after the 11-11 stalemate in regulation time.
Mean Machine against The wasps was the second meeting, starting with the KUSA7s when Nairobi defeated Wasps at the final to win the title at the Egerton ground.
Wasps will play the Monks in the play-off staring 12pm before the final at 2pm.
