Breaking News: Kenya Cycling president Julius Mwangi passes on

It is another dark day in the Kenyan sports following the death of Kenya Cycling Federation President Julius Mwangi.

Mwangi, who was also serving as the Confederation of Africa Cycling (CAC) passed on Monday morning at the Nairobi Hospital.

Confirming the death, the federation Secretary General Charles Mose said that the country and sports fraternity has lost a big man not just for the country but the entire continent.

“The country has lost a big man who has been serving the country diligently. This is not just for the nation but the entire continent,” said Mose.

He added that the late was to vie for the Africa president’s seat at the elections set for February 2025.

“As the CAC vice president, he was to go for the president’s position at the elections. His death has left a big gap not just in cycling but sports fraternity,” said Mose.

He said that through his leadership, many cyclist were nurtured including Tour de France champion Chris Froome, David Kinja, Joyce Nyaruri , Bernard Kabiro, Suleiman among others were among cyclists nurtured in his era.

“He has left a big gap after nurturing many in the country. It is a big blow to the federation that is mourning his death and passing condolences. We accept what has happened,” stated Mose.
