World marathon record holder Brigid Kosgei was the only Kenyan runner who made it to the final list of five athletes ahead of next week’s Female World Athlete of the Year 2019 Award.
Kosgei, who won the Chicago marathon with a world record last month, was first nominated alongside compatriots like the world 3,000m steeplechase world record Beatrice Chepkoech and two time world 5,000m champion Hellen Obiri all fell along the way.
Kosgei won the Chicago marathon with a record of 2:14.04 breaking Paula Rattcliffe’s long standing record.
The 2019 London marathon champion will battle with Jamaican Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Dutch’s Sifan Hassan, American hurdler Dalilah Muhammad and Venezuelan triple jumper Julimar Rojas.
