CAF: Nick Mwendwa lands a big deal

A month after being stripped off of the hosting rights for the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN), the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Mr Nick Mwendwa has been appointed as a member in the organizing committee of the same showpiece for the 2017-2019 cycle.

Mwendwa will be in a 12-member committee headed by Liberia FA boss Musa Bility as President with Angola’s Rui Eduardo da Costa and Tunisia’s Wadie Jary serving as first and second vice presidents respectively with their core mandate being to organize the staging of the biennial continental tournament reserved for home-based professionals

Of the committees, the Emergency Committee will be headed by the CAF President Mr Ahmad Ahmad with Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi and his counterpart from Congo DR Constant Omari being the first and second vice president respectively. Finance Committee has Morocco FA boss Mr Fouzi Lekjaa as its head.

In the committee that is responsible for organizing the CAF African Cup of Nations (AFCON), Nigeria FA boss Amaju Pinnick will act as it President with South African Alexander Danny Jordaan and Zimbabwe’s Philippe Chiyangwa being the first and second vice presidents respectively.

Club Licensing, which was introduced in Kenya at the start of the 2017 season will have its continental committee led by Tunisian Tarek Bouchamaouri as its president with Mauritania’s Ahmed Yahya and Sudan’s Dr Sirelkhatim Gaafar as the first and second vice presidents.

The committee responsible for youthful continental showpiece like the U17 and U19 will have South African Danny Joordan as its president with Guinea’s Kabele Camara and Central Africa’s Edward Ngaissona as the first and second vice presidents. The same committee has Kenyan journalist Herbert Mwachiro as one of its members

In the committee responsible for the continent’s Women football, Sierra Leone’s Isha Johansen will be president, deputized by Burundi’s Lydia Nsekera. East Africa will have a president in the continental body as Uganda FA boss Eng. Moses Magogo has been charged to lead the Futsal and Beach Soccer committee where he will be deputized by fellow East African Leodegar Tenga of Tanzania.

The Referees Committee will have Djibouti’s Suleiman Hassan as president with Mauritius Yan Kee Chong as vice president. The Technical and Development Committee with have Zambian great Kalusha Bwalya as president and Tenga as vice president. Ahned Yahya deputized by Egypt’s Hani Rida and Augustin Sengor of Senegal will head the Legal Affairs and National Association with the medical committee led by Chad’s Adoum Djibrine with Yacine Zerguini of Algeria as its vice president.
