Council of East and Central Africa Football Association (Cecafa) has announced new dates for the inaugural women CAF qualifiers.
The federation’s secretary General Auka Gaucho announced that the inaugural show that were set to be staged from July first will now be held between August 7th to August 21st in Kenya.
Kenya’s representative Vihiga Queens, who had won the previous Kenya Women Premier League title had been in camp, preparing for the championships that were postponed.
Vihiga finished third at the 2021 season in a title won by unbeaten Thika during the play-offs.
The Alex Alumira coached side is set to resume the camp in readiness for the title chase back home.
Vihiga Queens are in Pool ‘C’ and will play Scandinavian (Rwanda) and FAD Djibouti in the regional tournament
Their first match is against FAD Djibouti.
The winner of the tournament will represent the Cecafa region in the Caf Women Champions League proper set for November in Cairo, Egypt.
