Isaac Makokha’s mission to defend the Kenya Amateur Match play title was crashed on Friday evening after losing in the second match at the ongoing meeting at the Muthaiga golf club.
The deaf Kenyan golfer, who won the title last year to book for the 2021 kenya Open Golf championships lost to compatriot Ebil Omollo in the second round.
Makokha had beaten Lucas Zurovac in the opening round while Omollo won against Elisha Njogu to open the way for a new champion come Sunday.
The 36-hole Kenya Amateur Golf Championships meeting is the qualifying round for 2022 Kenya Open that attracted 96 amateurs for a three-day knock-out series whose winner will earn a ticket to the Magical Kenya 2022.
Makokha will face stiff competition in his bid to defend the title he won last year at Vetlab.
Michael Karanga, currently leading the KAGC Order of Merit is highly favoured to carry the day, if his current form is anything to go by and will be facing off with Omollo on Saturday morning match.
