CHAN: Champions Senegal on good start with victory over Nigeria

Champions Senegal started their title defence on a high note by beating Nigeria in the pool D encounter at the ongoing African Nations Championships (CHAN) in Tanzania.

Christian Gomis scored the only goal in the 75^th minute to hand Souleymane Diallo a 1-0 victory against Nigeria’s Eric Chelle.

In what was a West African affair, Senegal were playing their 15^th CHAN match, with Nigeria becoming the 14^th.

Nigeria faced the defending champions at CHAN for the first time.
