Chan: Kipchoge Keino stadium must host the championships

“It is a must Kipchoge keino stadium in Eldoret will host Africa Nations Championships (CHAN).”

Deputy Director of CHAN Herbert Machiro Tawa has made a move to assure football lovers in Eldoret that the African football extravaganza will be staged in Eldoret next year.

While in Eldoret on Friday morning, Mwachiro said that the facility, with the first phase construction getting underway, the facility will have what is takes to host the championships.

Mwachiro accompanied by Sports Kenya acting Director General Saima Ondimu and Football Kenya federation officials said they are committed to ensuring that the African showpiece.

“Come next year, this stadium will be ready to host the competition no matter what happens. The worry for timelines should not worry. We don’t have a room for failure or worry about the timelines because all the machinery is in place. You can see the other contractor has already been handed the works and we are confident that the works will be accomplished on time,” Mwachiro added.

Two training grounds-Eldoret polytechnic and Moi University School of Law fields- will be used.

The first phase will cost of 325 million shillings. These include the VIP pavilion, conferences, terraces, and anti-doping rooms, that will be build by Shiv Construction Company.

Shiv director Dilip Sutar said the works will be completed in 14 weeks since they already have two shifts.

“We are ready and the phase one works will be complete in 14 weeks. There will be two shifts each during the day and night to ensure that the works are done up to the standards and completed on time,” Sutar said.

Ondimu assured that the ministry will be paying the contractors on time upon the release of the certificates to avoid delays.
