Chebet and Rono rule Nairobi Region cross Country championships

World cross country champion Emily Chebet and Geoffrey Rono won the senior races at the Athletics Kenya Nairobi Region cross Country championships held today at the Kenya Prisons’ Service Ground.

Chebet, who has been finishing second for two years, won the 10km senior women title in 32:13.2 relegating Winfred Yavi (32:23.7) and Mercy Chepkorir was third in 33:03.8.

Coming from Lang’ata, Rono won the senior men’s 10km title in 27:49.1 ahead of Musa Mitei (27:56.1) and Meshack Letim completing the podium in 28:11.8.

In junior races, Dennis Kipkirui and Florence Chepkoech won the races with the former winning the junior men title in 22:49.2 followed by Nehemiah Kipyegon (25:59.6) and Peter Kibui in third in 23:03.0

Chepkoech won the 6km title in 19:33.9 to ahead of Triza Cherotich (19:49.2) and Yvonne Chepchirchir (20:02.9).

In under 18 titles were won by Fancy Chepkorir in 5km women and Emmanuel Koisetia winning the men’s 6km title.
