Newcomers Sharon Chelimo and Elijah Cheruiyot were the winners of the Eldama Ravine Half marathon held today in Ravine, Baringo County.
West Pokot’s Chelimo defeated her opponents to lift the women title in 72:55.57 beating Elgeyo Marakwet’s Catherine Reline to second in 73:15.90 and Uasin Gishu’s Jackline Chekal completing the podium timing 73:36.43.
Cheuiyot from Uasin Gishu topped the men’s race when he cut the tape in 63:30.25 ahead of Bungoma’s Titus Mbishei (63:35.43) and Nakuru’s Leonard Langat to third timing 63:36.56.
Nandi’s Zenah Jeptoo won the women 10km category in 35:06.22 followed by compatriot Nesvine Jepleting (36:00.16) and Nakuru’s Faith Cherono (36:18.99) coming third.
Kenneth Renju from Trans Nzoia was the champion in men’s 10km race when he clocked 30:13.05 for the title relegating Dennis Kipkirui (30:19.90) to second and Bernard Kipkirui (30:23.18) for top three finishers.
