Reigning Ljubljana marathon bronze medalist Diana Kipyogei Chemtai and Bernard Cheruiyot Sang won the 2020 Istanbul marathon titles ran today in Turkey.
Race favourire Chemtai winning the World Athletics Gold Label road race in 2:22:06 Ethiopia’s Hiwot Gebrekidan, Tigist Memuye, Ftaw Zeray and Yeshi Kalayu Chekole.
Gebrekidan finished second in 2:24:30 with Memuye taking third in 2:37:52.
Sang led 1-2 finish for Kenyan runners as Felix Kimutai came in second position with 2008 Olympic bronze medallist Edwin Soi, who was making his marathon debut.
